Paper Cup Flying Rocket Craft – STEM Project for Kids

Fun Fact: The Saturn V rocket, which took astronauts to the Moon, was so powerful that when it launched, it produced vibrations strong enough to crack windows 12 miles away. It was basically like setting off a man-made earthquake just to get off the ground!

Here is what you need:

  1. 3 Paper Cups
  2. Colored construction paper, markers, stickers (To design your rocket)
  3. Scissors & 2 rubber bands
  4. Pin (To help you poke holes to set your rubber bands correctly.

Fun competition game for the paper rockets that you all just made.

Game: Who’s rocket can fly the highest?

  1. Everyone has 30 minutes to create their rockets
  2. Rocket is cone is the tallest part of the rocket and will be used to measure the height of launch
  3. Launch rocket near a wall, mark the height of the launch with a sticker
  4. The rocket that flys the highest is the winner!
